Dried fenugreek leaves, or kasuri methi, are used in Indian cookery to give foods like dals and curries a unique, somewhat bitter flavour. It is used as a herb and has a strong scent. Initially found in the Punjabi Kasur region (now a part of Pakistan), it was given the name "Kasoori'' in reference to its land origins.
